North Dakota's air travel industry experienced a notable surge in January, marking the strongest performance on record for the month. Compared to January 2024, passenger numbers increased by 12%, equating to an additional 11,083 travelers. This growth is attributed to more available airline seats, increased flight options, and strong demand from both business and leisure sectors.

Fargo Hector International Airport set a new monthly record with 48,037 passenger boardings. The previous high was recorded in January 2023 with 43,705 passengers. Fargo has now seen ten consecutive months of record-breaking figures.

Devils Lake Airport also reported a new monthly record with 644 boardings. Its previous peak was in November 2020 with 612 passengers. Devils Lake has now achieved twelve consecutive months of record-setting performance.

Statewide statistics for January show total airline passenger boardings at 105,587 and available departure seats at 134,837. The average aircraft load factor stood at 78%. There were 1,661 successful departure flights against just 15 cancellations, resulting in a cancellation rate of only 0.9%.

The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission continues to provide updates on these developments.
