North Dakota commission meets to discuss agricultural product projects

The North Dakota Agricultural Products Utilization Commission is scheduled to convene at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 27, at the Bismarck Mandan Chamber EDC, located at 1640 Burnt Boat Rd., Bismarck, ND.

The meeting will commence with a call to order followed by a business meeting covering minutes, financials, guidelines and application review, and eligibility questions.

Several presentations are slated for the agenda. At 8:50 a.m., Kevin Cavanaugh of PHAT Brothers Bakery Inc. DBA Tatanka Sky in Bismarck will present their marketing and utilization project with a total cost of $386,026 and a funding request of $216,270.

At 9:10 a.m., Nathan and Theresa Dessonville from 3rd Day Family Farms in Mandan will discuss their marketing and utilization project costing $300,000 with a request for $225,000.

Angie Wolfe from ND Flax Works LLC DBA Pure Advantage in Southam will present at 9:30 a.m. Their marketing and utilization project totals $187,500 with a requested amount of $150,000.

Following a break at 9:50 a.m., Colin Tobin from NDSU Carrington Research Extension Center in Carrington will present basic and applied research valued at $119,019 with $95,215 requested at 10:10 a.m.

Minwei Xu from North Dakota State University in Fargo will follow at 10:30 a.m. with research costing $50,163 and requesting $40,130. At 10:50 a.m., Andriy Voronov from the same institution will present another research project totaling $57,209 with an ask of $45,767.

After another break at 11:10 a.m., Hossein Zadeh from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks is scheduled to present research valued at $234,839 with funding sought for $187,845 starting at 11:30 a.m.

A working lunch is planned for 11:50 a.m., followed by funding decisions set to begin at 12:30 p.m. The meeting is expected to adjourn by 2 p.m.
