Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak has extended her congratulations to Kirsten Baesler on her nomination as the Assistant Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education in the U.S. Department of Education. Fedorchak emphasized Baesler's long-standing commitment to education, stating, "Kirsten has dedicated her entire career to education. No one is better suited or experienced to help break down the barriers for children, parents, and teachers seeking high quality education."
Baesler has been at the helm of North Dakota’s Department of Public Instruction since January 2013 and was re-elected in November 2024 for another four-year term. Her career includes a significant tenure with Bismarck Public Schools, where she spent 24 years and achieved the position of Vice Principal. Additionally, Baesler contributed nine years as a Mandan School Board member, serving seven years as its president.
Fedorchak expressed optimism about Baesler's potential impact on K-12 education: "Her leadership and tenacity will push for reforms that help children get the education they need and deserve to pursue their dreams and lead our nation in the future.
