The Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is set to initiate a comprehensive study to assess and categorize safety countermeasures aimed at guiding future transportation project selections. The study will utilize the Safe System Approach from the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) to achieve the Vision Zero goal of eliminating or minimizing severe injuries and fatalities from transportation-related incidents. The project involves collaboration with several jurisdictions, notably the City of Bismarck, City of Mandan, City of Lincoln, Burleigh County, and Morton County.

Public participation in the Safety Policy Study will be sought during the Bis-Man Earth Day Festival at the Bismarck Event Center, where admission is free. Alternatively, written feedback can be submitted by May 31, 2025, to Luke Champa of SRF Consulting Group, at the provided address in Bismarck, ND, or via the project website specified in the release.

The MPO emphasizes its commitment to accessibility and inclusivity by considering all requests for reasonable accommodations. These include providing access to event facilities for individuals with disabilities, language interpretation for those with limited English proficiency, and translated materials required to access MPO programs and information. To arrange accommodations for disabilities or language assistance, the public is encouraged to contact the Title VI/ADA Coordinator by calling the provided phone numbers or by emailing their request at least ten days before the event.
