North Dakota State University Extension and University of Minnesota Extension are set to host an interactive lambing workshop on February 20 at 7 p.m. The event, titled “Live from the Lambing Barn,” will be broadcast from Dan and Kay Persons’ Rafter P Ranch near Kensington, Minnesota.

The webinar aims to educate participants on preparing for challenges and provide tips for successful Polypay sheep operations. Travis Hoffman, an Extension sheep specialist for both NDSU and UMN, will conduct the virtual tour alongside Dan Persons. Persons has over two decades of experience in raising Polypay sheep, managing a large flock with technologies such as radio-frequency identification ear tags.

“As producers, we learn best from our friends and neighbors,” Hoffman states. “This is a chance to share experiences from talented shepherds that take great pride in their sheep.”

The event is also being held in collaboration with Minnesota Lamb & Wool Producers. Interested participants must preregister at ndsu.ag/lambwebinar25 to receive the Zoom link. A recording of the webinar will be available to those who register.

Previous webinars can be accessed on the UMN Extension Sheep and Goats YouTube channel.
