The Cass County Sheriff’s Office has announced the formation of a Sheriff's Quick Response Team (SQRT). This new team consists of 10 deputies who will undergo additional monthly training and receive specialized equipment. The aim is to enhance their preparedness for multi-location coordinated attacks, mass casualty events, active shooter situations, barricaded subjects, hostage rescues, and high-risk incident planning.

The initiative seeks to improve response times in high-risk scenarios and maintain a progressive stance in training. The Sheriff’s Office aims to position itself at the forefront of public safety provision within the community. "Our goal is to have the SQRT fully operational within the next two months," stated a spokesperson from the office.

The SQRT will also be involved in planning and attending significant events this summer that require their presence. Recognizing a trend among larger cities transitioning to similar response strategies following recent large gatherings and violent incidents, Cass County is taking steps to ensure it remains proactive in its approach to public safety.

"It will always remain the mission and vision of the Cass County Sheriff’s Office to be progressive in our approach to providing a high level of public safety to our citizens," emphasized the spokesperson.
