Scientists from various fields are invited to the fifth annual NDSU Soybean Symposium on March 20 at the NDSU Memorial Union in Fargo, North Dakota. The event, supported by the North Dakota Soybean Council, will run from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The symposium aims to foster collaboration across multiple disciplines, including soybean pathology, production and agronomy, breeding, and new-uses research. "The main goal of the symposium is to bring a mix of specializations together, including new research and end-use partnerships," says Ana Carcedo, NDSU Extension broadleaf crops agronomist and symposium organizer.
Keynote speakers for the event include Daryl Ritchison, director of the North Dakota Agricultural Weather Network and North Dakota State Climatologist, along with Barry McGraw, founder and chief lab officer of Airable Research Lab. The day will conclude with a farmer panel where local farmers will discuss insights into soybean production and future prospects for the crop.
Students are encouraged to submit abstracts of their soybean-related research for an opportunity to present at the symposium. Presentations can be in poster or oral format, with a chance to win a cash prize. Abstract submissions are due by February 28.
Participation in the symposium is free; however, registration is required. Interested individuals can register and submit abstracts by visiting ndsu.ag/soybeansymposium.
