Bismarck City offices, the landfill, and the recycling center will be closed on January 1st in observance of New Year's Day. Collection schedules for garbage and recycling services will see adjustments due to the holiday closure.

Monday and Tuesday routes will remain unchanged. However, Wednesday and Thursday service days will experience a one-day delay. Specifically, garbage and recycling scheduled for Wednesday will be collected on Thursday, while Thursday's collection will occur on Friday. Residents are reminded that waste must be placed out by 6:00 am on their designated collection day as crews will not return if items are not ready for initial pickup.

The landfill's hours of operation during the holiday period are as follows: it is open from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm on December 30th and December 31st but closed on January 1st. Normal operating hours resume from January 2nd through January 4th.

The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronic Recycling Center also has modified hours: it is open from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm on December 30th and December 31st, closed on January 1st, and reopens with regular hours starting January 2nd.

For Christmas tree disposal, collections run from December 30, 2024, to January 9, 2025. Residents should ensure all decorations are removed before setting trees out at their usual collection points. Trees should not be wrapped in plastic or placed inside bags. A separate truck will handle tree collections for recycling purposes. For apartment complexes as well as condos and townhomes with three or more units, trees should be placed on the boulevard for collection.
