The City of Bismarck's Renaissance Zone Program has been granted an extension for five more years, commencing on January 4, 2025. This initiative offers temporary local property tax and state income tax exemptions to qualifying projects with the aim of encouraging community investment. The program has played a significant role in maintaining a stable tax base and enhancing Bismarck as a regional center for employment, housing, commerce, and recreation.

Through this program, vacant parcels have been developed, existing buildings rehabilitated, or spaces leased in buildings. These projects result in rejuvenated properties that support the growth and transformation of downtown Bismarck and its surrounding areas while utilizing existing infrastructure like roads and city services. This approach promotes efficient use of land, resources, and public funds.

The decision to extend the Renaissance Zone Program followed continued backing from the Bismarck City Commission, Burleigh County Commission, Bismarck Board of Park Commissioners, and Bismarck School Board.
