USDA invests over $9 million in North Dakota infrastructure projects

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development has announced a substantial investment of $9,685,000 for infrastructure projects in North Dakota. This funding aims to support various developments across the state.

The Cavalier Rural Electrical Cooperative will receive a loan of $4,446,000. This loan is intended for building and improving 37 miles of line that will connect 85 consumers.

In the City of New Salem, a combined loan and grant totaling $3,087,000 has been allocated. This includes a loan of $1,885,000 and a grant of $1,202,000. The funds are designated for replacing and upsizing aged cast-iron main and sanitary sewer pipes.

The City of Buffalo will benefit from a total investment of $1,400,000. A loan of $780,000 and a grant of $620,000 will be used to install a new six-inch PVC force main from the city's lift station to its lagoons.

Lastly, the City of Mayville is set to receive financial assistance amounting to $752,000. This comprises a loan of $432,000 and a grant of $320,000. The project involves replacing approximately 12 blocks of asbestos cement pipe in the water distribution system. Additionally, seven fire hydrants will be installed and 15 gate valves throughout the city will either be repaired or replaced.

These investments by USDA Rural Development aim to enhance essential infrastructure in these communities across North Dakota.
