FOIA Request to Morton County Sheriff's Department Regarding Arrest Records from 2016 Onwards on September 20, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Central ND News have submitted a request for public records under the North Dakota Open Records Statute, N.D.C.C. §44-04-18 et seq.

Our request is specifically for all arrest records in Morton County, North Dakota since January 1, 2016. The fields we are requesting include intake date, first name, middle name, last name, arrested at address, home address of arrestee, booking number, arresting agency and charges.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We will continue to keep you updated on this matter as more information becomes available.
