Washington – Senators Jon Tester and Jerry Moran, along with Congressman Morgan Luttrell, have introduced the Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2024 to boost the rates of compensation for veterans and their families. The legislation aims to address the need for adjustments in veterans' benefits to keep up with the rising cost of living.

Senator Kevin Cramer emphasized the importance of the legislation, stating, "Our veterans are not immune to cost-of-living surges across the country, and their compensation should reflect this reality."

Chairman Tester echoed this sentiment, expressing, “We need to make sure the men and women who served this country have benefits that meet their needs each year... boosting their hard-earned benefits to keep pace with higher costs of living."

Ranking Member Moran highlighted the significance of ensuring veterans' benefits align with the increasing prices, stating, “Making certain veterans benefits stay on pace with rising prices will help provide disabled veterans, certain surviving spouses and their children with peace of mind and continued support."

The bipartisan support for the bill was evident with additional cosponsors such as Senators Richard Blumenthal, Mazie Hirono, and Bernie Sanders. The legislation aims to provide enhanced assistance to veterans with service-connected disabilities and survivors of disabled veterans, effective December 1, 2024.
