BISMARCK, N.D. – Senators John Hoeven and Kevin Cramer and Congressman Kelly Armstrong responded to the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) Inspector General's interim audit report on facilities in Bismarck, Mandan, and Minot, highlighting the need for improvements in mail services.
In a joint statement, the delegation acknowledged the findings of the audit, stating, "The USPS’s audit makes it clear that improvements are needed at postal facilities in Bismarck, Mandan, and Minot." They expressed their commitment to ensuring that USPS implements the recommended improvements to provide timely mail service in North Dakota. The delegation also anticipated the upcoming full audit report for the MN-ND District, which will include results and recommendations for additional facilities in Dickinson, Grand Forks, and Fargo.
The North Dakota delegation had previously urged the USPS Inspector General to include more North Dakota facilities in the audit, citing specific concerns. Additionally, following concerns raised by constituents regarding USPS plans to relocate mail processing facilities in Bismarck and Grand Forks, the delegation was informed that the USPS IG is conducting a review of the nationwide effort to relocate mail processing.
The delegation's offices were briefed on the interim audit results and provided feedback as the full audit progresses. They expressed their dedication to ensuring that USPS addresses the operational deficiencies identified in the audit and improves mail services in the state.
The upcoming full audit report for the Minnesota-North Dakota District is expected to provide further insights and recommendations for enhancing mail services in North Dakota.
