WASHINGTON – Congressman Kelly Armstrong (R-N.D.) expressed his discontent after voting against H.Res. 1102, The Further Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024. Armstrong criticized both Speaker Pelosi and Republican leadership for the rushed funding bill process. He stated, "I was extremely critical of Speaker Pelosi when the House got jammed on funding bills, and I am critical of the process from Republican leadership now."
Armstrong further explained the challenges faced by his office in analyzing the legislation, saying, "My office did everything possible to read and understand the $1.2 trillion, 1,000-page legislation in just over a day from when it was released. The math didn’t add up. We barely finished reading the bill, let alone had the time to analyze the consequences."
The Congressman highlighted his consistent stance against sudden massive spending bills, emphasizing, "I have consistently voted against massive spending bills that are dropped at the last minute. I voted no today, and I will continue to do so." Armstrong concluded by expressing his frustration with the current state of Congress, stating, "Congress is broken, and I won’t enable the dysfunction."
