Senator Kevin Cramer emphasized the significance of the U.S.-Canada partnership during the "Canada Day on the Hill" reception sponsored by the Embassy of Canada to the United States. He stressed the vital nature of the relationship between the two countries, stating, “Whether it’s the fight for democracy or the fight for freedom, our global relationship is so critical. One plus one adds up to more than two. The alliance between the United States and Canada is a synergistic relationship, it’s not simply a linear relationship."
Cramer further highlighted the impact of the partnership beyond just military and economic aspects, emphasizing the message it sends to allies and adversaries alike. He noted, "It's not just about the weapons systems or the nations. It's about the message we send to allies and adversaries alike, and when we speak with one voice, it’s a loud voice. When it comes to the economy, it's just obvious, and we’ve got so much more potential."
Recognizing the importance of the partnership, Senator Cramer was presented with the State Trade Award by Counsel General Beth Richardson on behalf of North Dakota, acknowledging Canada as the state’s top international trading partner.
Canadian Ambassador to the United States, Kirsten Hillman, commended the efforts of Senators Cramer and Angus King in strengthening ties with Canada. She expressed gratitude for the introduction of a resolution reaffirming the deep partnership between the two nations, stating, “The value of our partnership can be felt in every US District, and across every region of Canada, making our communities more prosperous, more resilient, safer and more secure."
The resolution introduced by Senators Cramer and King highlights the essential role Canada plays in supporting the economic and national security interests of the United States. Ambassador Hillman emphasized the need to protect and deepen this relationship, especially in times of global uncertainty.
