WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven's provision directing the National Park Service (NPS) to maintain the wild horses at Theodore Roosevelt National Park (TRNP) has been passed by Congress. Hoeven emphasized the significance of preserving the park's wildlife as it existed during a crucial period in history.

"The wild horses at Theodore Roosevelt National Park are a central part of the region’s history and character," stated Senator Hoeven. He highlighted the historical importance of the wild horses by referencing Teddy Roosevelt's impactful experiences while ranching on the land, which greatly influenced his life and presidency.

Hoeven expressed the necessity of maintaining the park's wildlife to reflect its historical context, noting the overwhelming public support for this approach. He underscored that the effort, now approved by Congress, mandates the NPS to carry out this directive.

"This is especially timely given we expect the park service to announce their decision next month," Hoeven added, indicating the imminent decision by the NPS regarding the maintenance of the wild horses at Theodore Roosevelt National Park.
