Senator John Hoeven, along with U.S. Senators Katie Britt and Ted Budd, has introduced the Laken Riley Act, a bill aimed at ensuring that ICE detains and deports illegal immigrants who commit crimes. Hoeven emphasized the importance of the bill, which has already received bipartisan approval in the House of Representatives.

"This is commonsense legislation that would ensure that ICE detains and deports illegal immigrants who commit crimes. The bill has already been approved in a bipartisan manner by the House of Representatives and the Senate should vote and pass this bill now," said Senator Hoeven.

In addition to Senator Hoeven, the Laken Riley Act has garnered support from various cosponsors, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and several other senators.

The bill not only focuses on the deportation of illegal immigrants who engage in criminal activities but also aims to hold federal officials accountable for enforcing immigration laws. It would allow states to take civil actions against officials who fail to comply with these laws.
