U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) and U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. (R-KS) have joined forces with other colleagues to urge the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to take action following a court ruling that nullified the 2020 registrations of three dicamba herbicides. The ruling by the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona found that the EPA violated certain requirements under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act.

In a letter addressed to EPA Administrator Michael Regan, the senators called for an appeal of the court decision and requested an expansion of the existing stocks order to include products that were ready for sale at the time of the ruling. They emphasized the importance of providing farmers with access to essential crop protection tools, especially in light of the challenges they are already facing.

The senators highlighted the significant impact of the court decision on farmers, stating that the nullification of the dicamba registrations will have global repercussions, particularly for U.S. soybean and cotton producers. They stressed the need for prompt attention to the issue to ensure that farmers can continue to sustainably feed, clothe, and fuel the world.

The letter was cosigned by a group of senators, including Jerry Moran, Cindy Hyde-Smith, Thom Tillis, and others, as well as supported by various agriculture groups such as the American Farm Bureau Federation and the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture.

The senators concluded by urging the EPA to consider the challenges faced by farmers and take necessary steps to mitigate the impact of the court's decision on the agricultural community.
