Bismarck City offices, along with the landfill and recycling center, will close at noon on Tuesday, December 24th, and remain closed all day on Wednesday, December 25th for the Christmas holiday.

On Monday, routes will be collected as usual. On December 24th, Bismarck's Solid Waste Division plans to deploy additional garbage trucks to complete collections by noon. This measure is intended to allow staff to spend more time with their families. As a result of these closures, services scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday will be delayed by one day for both garbage and recycling collection. For instance, Wednesday’s route will be serviced on Thursday and Thursday’s route on Friday. Residents are reminded that garbage and recycling should be placed out by 6:00 am on the designated collection day since crews will not revisit addresses where items were not ready in time.

The landfill's holiday hours are as follows: Monday, December 23rd from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm; Tuesday, December 24th from 6:00 am until noon; closed on Wednesday; resuming normal hours from Thursday through Saturday between 6:00 am and 4:00 pm.

The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronic Recycling Center also has adjusted hours during this period: open Monday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm; Tuesday from 8:00 am until noon; closed on Wednesday; reopening Thursday from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

For Christmas tree collection occurring between December 30th and January 9th, residents should remove all lights, ornaments, and stands before placing trees out for pickup. Trees should not be wrapped in plastic or placed inside bags. Collection will occur at regular points based on scheduled days. Apartment complexes should place trees along the boulevard for pickup while condos and townhomes with three or more units should do the same. A separate truck dedicated to collecting Christmas trees will handle their recycling.
