Senator John Hoeven has criticized the Biden administration for indefinitely halting approvals for liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminals in order to review the licensing process. In a statement, Hoeven expressed his concern over the administration's decision, stating that it is another example of the administration's tendency to burden U.S. energy producers with unnecessary regulations.

Hoeven emphasized the importance of providing LNG exports to U.S. allies, as it reduces their reliance on energy from adversarial countries like Russia. He argued that energy security is crucial for national security and that the Biden administration's action is making the nation less safe.

"The Biden administration continues to handcuff U.S. energy producers with burdensome and unnecessary regulations, and this is just the latest example," said Hoeven.

As a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, Hoeven expressed his intention to push back on the Biden administration's flawed Green New Deal policy. He plans to bring Biden administration officials before the committee to address this issue.

In addition to opposing the halt on LNG exports, Hoeven is actively working to reverse the Biden administration's ban on transporting LNG by rail. He is also sponsoring legislation aimed at streamlining and setting deadlines for the review process of natural gas pipeline and LNG projects, which are critical for getting energy to market.

Hoeven's legislation has been included in two comprehensive energy permitting reform bills, namely the Spur Permitting of Underdeveloped Resources (SPUR) Act and H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act, which was passed by the U.S. House of Representatives last year.

Hoeven's efforts to combat burdensome and costly regulations from the Biden administration align with his commitment to supporting the energy industry and ensuring that the United States remains a reliable energy supplier to its allies.
