Several media outlets recently reported that pro-Palestinian protestors defaced the Los Angeles National Cemetery, where more than 80,000 veterans are buried. The protestors spray-painted “INTIFADA” and “FREE GAZA” on the grounds of the cemetery, along with a red, upside-down triangle.

In response to this act of vandalism, U.S. Senators Kevin Cramer (R-ND) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) have sent a letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, urging the Department of Justice (DOJ) to immediately investigate the defacement of the national cemetery. The cemetery is run by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

In their letter, Senators Cramer and Rubio describe the defacement as "disgusting, anti-American, and a testament as to how far pro-Hamas extremists will go to advocate on behalf of a Foreign Terrorist Organization." They also highlight that the defacement of the cemetery is a violation of federal law.

The senators emphasize the importance of honoring veterans, stating, "Veterans represent the best of America. The men and women who serve in the U.S. military exemplify the sacrifice, determination, and bravery that all Americans should strive for." They further note that the veterans buried at the Los Angeles National Cemetery fought to protect the fundamental rights of all Americans, including those who may lack the moral clarity to condemn terrorism.

Calling for accountability, the senators conclude their letter by stating, "Pro-Hamas radicals and terrorist sympathizers must immediately face consequences for their immoral and illegal tactics." They urge the DOJ to investigate the pro-Hamas activists responsible for defacing the Los Angeles National Cemetery, given their clear violation of federal law.

The letter to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland was not only signed by Senators Cramer and Rubio but also by a number of other senators including Marsha Blackburn, Mike Braun, John Hoeven, Ted Budd, Steve Daines, Mike Crapo, Cindy Hyde-Smith, Rick Scott, Dan Sullivan, James Risch, Bill Cassidy, Deb Fischer, Lindsey Graham, and Susan Collins.

This act of defacement at the Los Angeles National Cemetery has sparked outrage among lawmakers, who are now calling for a comprehensive investigation into the incident. The defacement of a national cemetery, a sacred place where our fallen heroes rest, is a deeply disturbing act that undermines the principles and values that our nation holds dear.

Defacing a national cemetery not only disrespects the memory and sacrifice of our veterans but also sends a dangerous message to those who have served and continue to serve in our armed forces. It is imperative that those responsible for this act of vandalism are held accountable for their actions.

The Department of Justice's investigation into this incident will not only seek justice for the defacement of the Los Angeles National Cemetery but also serve as a reminder that such actions will not be tolerated in our society. Our veterans deserve the utmost respect and gratitude for their service, and we must ensure that their final resting places are treated with the dignity they deserve.

As the investigation unfolds, the nation awaits the results and hopes that those responsible for this disgraceful act will be brought to justice. The memory of our veterans and their sacrifices must be protected, and their final resting places should always be places of honor, reverence, and peace.
