WASHINGTON – Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, has expressed concern over the Biden administration's proposed fee on energy producers and other industries for methane emissions. This fee, authorized under the Democrats' tax-and-spend bill, is in addition to costly technology mandates that the administration finalized last month. Hoeven believes that these measures will result in increased prices for consumers.

In a statement, Senator Hoeven said, "The cost of energy is priced into every good and service that we use, and additional taxes and mandates on producers will result in more inflation hitting Americans' pocketbooks." He further added, "Instead, we should be advancing regulatory and tax relief that spurs innovation while empowering our energy industry to build the infrastructure we need to capture methane and get it to market efficiently. That's the right path forward for our nation, which will bring down prices for consumers and restore U.S. energy security."

Hoeven argues that the proposed fee and technology mandates will lead to inflation and hurt U.S. energy security. He believes that the focus should be on providing regulatory and tax relief to promote innovation within the energy industry. By doing so, the industry can efficiently capture methane and bring down prices for consumers.
