At approximately 2:53 AM on Thursday May 18th, the Central Dakota Communications Center received a call-in commercial fire alarm indicating a water flow at 2840 Valley Forge St (Northwest Contracting).  Engine 4 and Truck 1 were initially dispatched and reported nothing showing from the exterior and went into investigate.  After investigation, they advised that they have heavy smoke in the shop and upgraded the response to a working fire which brought the total to 4 Engines, 1 Truck and 1 Battalion Chief.

The building had a sprinkler system which kept the fire under control.  The fire attack crew pulled a hose to the shop and extinguished the fire in the truck, began overhaul operations and ventilation of the building.  There was heavy fire damage to the truck and ceiling above the truck with smoke damage throughout the shop.  There was minimal smoke that entered into the office area.

Six fire department apparatus and 16 fire fighters were dispatched to the scene.  The Bismarck Police Department assisted with scene control.   Metro Area Ambulance was on scene to provide medical support.  No injuries were reported.  Fire damage was limited to the shop portion of the building.  The cause of the fire is ruled accidental.
