National Public Works Week (NPWW) is May 21-27. As part of the celebration, Mandan Public Works invites the public to an open house on Thursday, May 25 from 4 to 6 p.m.
The open house will provide visitors with an opportunity to tour the facility at 411 Sixth Ave SW; learn about all the divisions that make up the Public Works department; meet the crews and other companies they work closely with; and free rides for the kids in Public Works equipment. Hot dogs, chips and cookies will be served and a few fun activities are being planned.
Coloring contest. Youth, age 12 and under, competing in Mandan’s Public Works coloring contest will be eligible to win a ride in a Public Works vehicle of their choice (as long as there is a seat belt for the passenger in the vehicle). The coloring sheet will be provided to elementary schools in Mandan and at cityofmandan.com/publicworks. Entries must be returned to Public Works during the open house on May 25.
The theme for NPWW this year is “Connecting the World through Public Works,” illustrating how Public Works connects us all through infrastructure and service, enhancing the quality of life for our community.
