Our January Member Spotlight is Jamestown Tourism!
Recently, Jamestown Tourism and the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce entered into a partnership. The Chamber and Tourism are extremely excited about this opportunity to better serve our community. Our resources for our organizations are good, and now we can do more with what we have.
-Background and history of Jamestown Tourism: Jamestown Tourism coordinates, promotes, and supports tourism growth and development in Jamestown and the surrounding areas. We work with local entities and non-profits to provide great experiences to our locals and our visitors. We also manage, on behalf of the City of Jamestown, the Frontier Village.
-What sort of trends are you seeing in your industry?
Tourism is an ever-changing industry, especially with the powers of social media and the web. What’s popular today won’t be popular next week! But the common thread is always people. People want to get out and have a great experience wherever they are. We work hard to maintain Jamestown’s most visited attractions and historic sites as well as promote them, along with our annual events to our visitors.
-What should the community know about your business that may be beneficial to them?
Tourism not only promotes the happenings, events, and sites. We also have a grant program that non-profits can apply for funds to enhance or add to their site. The new grant guidelines will be on the DiscoverJamestownND website in 2023. We also will be opening the General Store at the Frontier Village in the spring of 2023! Ice cream, rootbeer floats, and a selection of souvenirs and food, like Buffalo City Popcorn, as well as Dakota Dirt Coffee!
Why do you feel it’s important to be a member of your local Chamber of Commerce?
Going back to the common thread of people… The Chamber of Commerce provides Tourism with people, networking opportunities, and resources to be able to provide locals and visitors with great sites and experiences in Jamestown.
