NDSU Extension - Kidder County: Poultry Farmers Encouraged to protect their flock from HPAI

S

NDSU Extension - Kidder County issued the following announcement on March 25.

HPAI does not pose a risk to the public, and there is no food safety concern for consumers. Poultry testing positive for HPAI are prohibited by law from entering the marketplace.

People should consider precautions to limit exposure and spread.

Report sick domesticated birds to your local veterinarian. DO NOT TRANSPORT SICK BIRDS. If you do not have a local veterinarian for your flock, contact the North Dakota State Veterinarian’s office at 701-328-2655.

The Game and Fish Department asks the public’s help in monitoring the outbreak in wild birds. Report any sick or dead wild birds through the online form gf.nd.gov/mortality-report. Do not attempt to assist, move, rehabilitate or dispatch wild birds and avoid bringing wildlife home.

If you would like to receive updates on the status of HPAI in your area, please complete the voluntary North Dakota Poultry Survey at https://bit.ly/3IvXLhj.
