A 71-year-old woman from Grandin was fatally struck by a train on Friday, October 24. The incident occurred at approximately 2:07 PM at the 3rd Street Railroad Crossing in Grandin. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the pedestrian was walking west on 3rd Street when she was hit by a northbound Canadian National train.

The weather and road conditions were reported as dry at the time of the accident. Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Grandin Fire Department, Gardner Fire Department, Sanford Ambulance, Hunter Ambulance, Grandin Quick Response Unit, and BNSF Police.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing under the direction of the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
