Peyton Janeway, a junior in the nursing program at Dickinson State University (DSU), has pursued her passion for helping others since childhood. Raised in Baker, Montana, Janeway was known for assisting those in need and was recognized early on for her caregiving abilities.
Her interest in healthcare grew through work at a nursing home, where she found fulfillment supporting residents. “I began to look forward to going into work and helping care for the residents,” Janeway said. “That’s when I knew this was my dream job.”
When selecting a college, Janeway sought an institution that combined academic support with a close-knit community. She chose DSU because of its personalized learning environment and supportive faculty. “I knew if I wanted to get the education best fit for me, I needed to find a small school that had the support DSU brings,” she said.
Janeway credits DSU’s nursing faculty with providing patient guidance and encouragement, which has helped her develop both professionally and personally. She notes that their commitment extends beyond academics, fostering confidence and essential skills needed in nursing.
In addition to her studies, Janeway participates in the Nursing Student Association at DSU. Through this organization, she collaborates with peers on campus and community projects, gaining leadership experience while staying engaged with fellow students.
Janeway values the friendships formed within the nursing program and highlights these relationships as an important part of her college experience.
Looking ahead to a career in healthcare, Janeway expresses gratitude for the preparation she is receiving at DSU as she works toward making a positive impact in her field.
