The City of Bismarck Community Development Department is offering several opportunities for residents to provide input on the Land Development Code (LDC) project during October and November. The initiative follows the city’s effort, launched in fall 2024, to update Title 14, the current zoning code regulations, and establish a new LDC that will guide future development in Bismarck.

To reach a broader audience and gather feedback, city staff and consultants have attended community events such as Bismarket and the Street Fair. Acting Community Development Director Daniel Nairn stated, “We want to make it easier for people to share their thoughts on this project by going to places and events where they are already.”

Continuing these outreach efforts, staff will host additional community input sessions at two local coffee shops—Anima Cucina and Boneshaker Coffee—on various dates throughout October and November. These sessions are scheduled both in the morning and afternoon to accommodate different schedules.

Nairn described the significance of the initiative by saying, “This project is a once-in-a generation opportunity. We want to make sure it reflects our community priorities both now and for in the future.”

Residents interested in participating or with questions about the LDC project can contact the Community Development Department’s Planning Division by phone or email. It is noted that food and beverage purchases during these events are not covered by city staff and are the responsibility of attendees.
