Beginning Friday, October 3, weather permitting, traffic on U.S. Highway 83/South Broadway in Minot will shift to the southbound lanes in a head-to-head configuration due to ongoing culvert replacement work that requires closure of the northbound lanes. At the same time, the exit ramp from eastbound U.S. Highway 2 onto U.S. 83/South Broadway is scheduled to reopen for motorists, while all other interchange ramps will continue operating as usual.
The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) began the Highway 83 culvert replacement project on August 4, 2025, with completion expected in November 2025. The project aims to improve drainage, increase safety, and extend the lifespan of the roadway.
Motorists are urged to remain alert in the work zone and follow posted signs and instructions from workers. NDDOT stated: "As the project progresses, the NDDOT will continue to provide timely updates on traffic patterns and road conditions."
