Injury crash near Lakota leaves one seriously hurt

An accident occurred on Tuesday, September 16, at around 4:15 PM near Lakota, North Dakota. The incident involved a collision between two vehicles at the intersection of eastbound US Highway 2 and ND Highway 1. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2017 Volvo truck tractor with a trailer was traveling east when it collided with a southbound 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The crash happened under dry road conditions and good weather. Both vehicles ended up in the south ditch following the impact. The driver of the Volvo, a 37-year-old male from Lackawanna, New York, was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Jeep, an 83-year-old male from Lakota, North Dakota, sustained serious injuries and was not using a seatbelt. He was transported to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks for treatment. The investigation into the crash is ongoing by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
