The City of Bismarck Public Works Utility Operations Department will carry out fire hydrant maintenance in late September and early October. The scheduled testing will take place from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
During the process, hydrants will be flushed, which may cause rusty water for local residents. Customers are advised not to wash clothing until the water has cleared. Running lawn sprinklers can help speed up the clearing of discolored water.
Maintenance is set for two separate periods and locations. From September 22 to 26, work will occur between Main Ave and Bismarck Expressway, as well as Riverside Park Rd to 9th St, and Xavier St (Ward Rd) to State St and I-94 to Boulevard Ave. The following week, from September 29 to October 3, maintenance will continue from Boulevard Ave to Bismarck Expressway and Bell St to 26th St.
Residents seeking more information can call 701-355-1700, option 4, or visit the City of Bismarck website for details about Fire Hydrant Maintenance.
