Senator John Hoeven, U.S. Senator representing North Dakota, recently used his social media platform to address a range of topics including wild horse preservation, cattle industry reforms, and the legacy of a local journalist.

On September 15, 2025, Hoeven shared an update on legislative efforts regarding Theodore Roosevelt National Park. He wrote: "Met with @NatlParkService Regional Director Bert Frost to discuss my bill to ensure the wild horses continue to roam freely within @TRooseveltNPS while preserving its unique natural heritage."

The following day, Hoeven reported on discussions with representatives from R-CALF USA. On September 16, 2025, he posted: "Had productive talks with @RCALFUSA North Dakota representatives about key issues facing independent cattle producers, including fair markets and industry reforms as we work together to support rural communities and producers."

Later that same day, Hoeven reflected on the passing of Marilyn Hagerty, a longtime Grand Forks journalist. In his post he stated: "A remarkable career and an unmistakable voice. For nearly 70 years, Marilyn Hagerty captured the spirit of Grand Forks with thoughtfulness and heart. She will be deeply missed."

Theodore Roosevelt National Park is known for its free-roaming wild horses—a symbol of the region’s natural history. Legislative proposals concerning these horses have been a subject of ongoing debate among conservationists and policymakers.

R-CALF USA is an advocacy group focused on supporting independent cattle producers in the United States by addressing concerns such as market fairness and regulatory reform.

Marilyn Hagerty was recognized for her decades-long journalism career in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Her reporting earned her national attention and made her a respected figure in local media circles.
