Effective as of 2:30 p.m. CST on Saturday, September 13, 2025, Williams County officials have announced updated restrictions for certain roads due to rain conditions. All township gravel and chip seal roads in Zones 2 and 5 are now restricted to a gross vehicle weight (GVW) limit of 20,000 pounds until further notice. The same restriction remains in effect for Zones 3 and 6.

According to the announcement, “Any permits that were approved prior in those zones are now void. Roads will be reevaluated again throughout the day.”

Earlier in the day at 1 p.m., different restrictions had been put into place. At that time, Zones 3 and 6 had already been limited to a GVW of 20,000 pounds, while Zones 2 and 5 were subject to a six-ton axle weight limit with an overall GVW cap of 80,000 pounds.

The county reiterated that “Any permits that were approved prior in those zones are now void. Roads will be re-evaluated again throughout the day.”

Officials stated these measures are temporary and will continue to assess road conditions as weather changes.
