Bismarck residents will have the opportunity to dispose of waste at no cost during the city’s Landfill Free Disposal Week, scheduled for September 15-20, 2025. The initiative allows residents to bring household hazardous waste and electronics to the landfill without charge. Proof of residency is required, either through a recent City of Bismarck utility bill or a valid driver’s license with a Bismarck address.

The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling Center will operate on extended hours from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm throughout the week to accommodate increased demand. The city noted that while most items can be disposed of for free, there will still be a fee for tire disposal.

Outside of this special week, regular landfill hours are Monday through Saturday from 6:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Household Hazardous Waste & Electronic Center usually operates from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday, and from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm on the first and third Saturday of each month.
