North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong has ordered that all U.S. and North Dakota flags be flown at half-staff through sunset on Sunday, September 14. The directive is in honor of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, who was shot and killed at an event in Utah.

Governor Armstrong encouraged residents and businesses across the state to lower their flags as a sign of respect for Kirk’s memory.

“Kjersti and I extend our deepest condolences and prayers to the family of Charlie Kirk after this senseless and reprehensible act. There is absolutely no place in America for political violence,” Armstrong said.

The governor’s order follows a proclamation from President Donald Trump.
