North Dakota Secretary of State Michael Howe has announced the launch of a statewide design contest for the next official "I Voted" sticker. The initiative, titled "I Voted - More Than Just a Sticker," is open to North Dakotans of all ages and aims to promote civic engagement throughout the state.
"This contest represents more than just designing a sticker – it's an opportunity for North Dakotans to become part of our state's election history," said Secretary Howe. "This is a unique opportunity for artists to contribute their talents and ideas to North Dakota's electoral process, and I am looking forward to seeing the incredible creativity that North Dakotans will bring to this contest.”
Entries will be accepted online or by mail from September 15 through November 15, 2025. A selection panel will choose top designs, after which the public can vote on their favorite. The winning design will be announced in March 2026 and featured at polling locations across North Dakota during the June 9, 2026 Primary Election.
The winner will receive a professionally framed copy of their design and recognition from Secretary Howe at an unveiling ceremony in Bismarck. Complete rules, guidelines, and entry forms are available on the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.nd.gov/civicengagement.
A video invitation from Secretary Howe can also be viewed on the office’s YouTube channel.
The last time a statewide voting sticker design contest was held was for the 2020 election cycle, organized by the North Dakota County Auditors Association with participation limited to fourth graders.
