Throughout September, Dickinson State University (DSU) will offer a series of events and activities as part of its "30 Days of Programming." The schedule is designed to engage students in a variety of interests, including sports, music, games, and social gatherings.
The month begins with Labor Day on September 1, when no classes are scheduled. That evening, students can participate in a Glow in the Dark Capture the Flag event at King Pavilion. Athletic competitions feature prominently throughout the month, such as volleyball matches against BSC, Dakota State, Bellevue, and others at Scott Gym. Additional sports events include kickball games, spikeball tournaments, football versus CC at BAC stadium on September 20, and baseball games against MSU and VCSU.
Students interested in joining organizations can attend the Clubs & Orgs Fair on September 10 in the SC Ballroom. Other social opportunities include Karaoke Night at Blue Hawk Hub on September 9 and Game Night across multiple campus locations on September 22.
Cultural and entertainment options are also available. On September 7 there will be a WNBA watch party for Dallas Wings vs LA Sparks at Blue Hawk Hub. The theater production "The Foreigner" will be performed several times between September 18-20 at Stickney Auditorium. Movie nights and musical performances such as Mexican Brass are scheduled during the month.
Special observances include a 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb from 7–9 a.m. on September 11 at BAC and mental health awareness programs like "Talk Saves Lives" on September 23.
Family Weekend takes place toward the end of the month alongside DSU's Blue Hawk Stampede rodeo events and academic symposia like the TR Symposium held both on campus and in Medora.
Organizers emphasize that with daily programming covering diverse activities—from improv nights to ice skating—there are opportunities for all students to connect with their peers throughout September.
“Whether you’re into sports, music, games, or just hanging out with friends, September is the month to get involved!” according to university organizers.
