Dickinson State University is preparing to welcome students back to campus with its annual Weekend of Welcome, scheduled for August 22–25. The event is aimed at both new and returning students, offering a series of activities designed to help them settle in and connect with the campus community.
The schedule begins on Friday, August 22, with freshmen move-in from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by novelty and make-and-take activities in the afternoon. An RA technology session will be held at 6 p.m., and the evening will feature laser tag and LED mini golf from 7 to 10 p.m.
Saturday’s events include another move-in window from 10 a.m. to noon, brunch at The Perch where students can decorate their own donuts, outdoor inflatables at King Pavilion, a Sip & Paint session in the Student Center Foyer, Grocery Bag Bingo in the early evening, and Late Night at WRCC running until midnight.
On Sunday, move-in continues from noon to 2 p.m., with additional activities such as potting plants and rock painting between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., bowling at The Paragon in the afternoon, and Taco Fest at King Pavilion with two seatings in the evening. Housing meetings for Woods Hall, Selke Hall, DeLong Hall, and Pulver Hall are scheduled throughout Sunday night.
Monday marks the official start of the semester with Convocation at noon alongside a campus picnic featuring Nico Franc. During this event, organizers will announce grand prize giveaway winners. The day concludes with comedian Jeff Scheen performing in the Student Center Ballroom at 7:30 p.m.
Meal plans are not required for participation in meal-related events during the weekend. Giveaways will be distributed throughout all four days; students who attend more events increase their chances of winning prizes. Move-in opportunities continue across posted times during the weekend.
