Dickinson State University has appointed Hunter Flynn as its new director of admissions. Flynn, who previously served as assistant director of admissions since November 2024, is an alumnus of the university. He expressed enthusiasm about representing his alma mater in this leadership role.

In his new position, Flynn plans to improve the efficiency of the Admissions Office and focus on targeted recruitment efforts. His approach emphasizes connecting with students through classroom visits, social media engagement, and digital advertising campaigns. Flynn aims to strengthen DSU’s presence in Dickinson and southwest North Dakota by positioning the university as a leading choice for local students.

Flynn noted that while higher education institutions across the country are experiencing an enrollment decline, he sees growth potential at DSU. He intends to guide the university’s admissions strategy with a focus on innovation and adaptability.

“It’s an honor to step into the role of director of admissions at Dickinson State University,” said Flynn. “I’m excited to lead our admissions team as we build meaningful connections with students and families and showcase the incredible opportunities Dickinson State has to offer. DSU has had a profound impact on me as a student, an alum, and as a staff member and I am proud to be recruiting the next generation of Blue Hawks!"

Flynn will oversee DSU's Admissions team, which includes counselors Meagan Fox, Makayla Grijalva, and Hayden Wempen. The group is focused on strengthening outreach initiatives and supporting student success.

The office recently added two new positions: a digital media specialist responsible for creating content aimed at prospective students across digital platforms; and an early university coordinator/admissions evaluator tasked with streamlining operations and building relationships with area high schools.

“Dickinson State University is excited about the new direction of the Admissions Office,” said DSU President Scott Molander. “I am confident that Hunter will bring strong leadership and a clear vision to this role, and I look forward to the continued growth and success of our enrollment efforts under his guidance.”

DSU continues its commitment to offering personalized educational experiences while adapting recruitment strategies amid changes in higher education.
