At its July 1 meeting, the City Commission approved a new Public Comment Policy aimed at providing a structured way for residents to participate in city governance. The move follows the passage of Senate Bill No. 2180, which requires regular meetings of governing bodies such as cities, counties, and school districts to include an opportunity for public comment.

The policy is intended to give residents a chance to share their opinions while maintaining order and efficiency during commission meetings. The full details of the policy are available on the city's website at https://www.cityofmandan.com/citycommission.

Mayor James Froelich stated, “This policy reflects our commitment to transparency and community involvement. We want every resident to feel heard and respected, and this structure ensures that public input is both meaningful and manageable.”

Residents are encouraged by city officials to take part in meetings respectfully and constructively under the new guidelines.
