The Mandan Public School District has announced that student-athletes can now obtain their required sports physicals at Medallus Medical Urgent Care in Mandan, North Dakota, any day of the week without needing an appointment.
According to the Mandan Public School District, Medallus Urgent Care offers sports physical exams designed to assess an individual's fitness for sports participation. All middle and high school athletes are required to have a current sports physical before starting their season.
The North Dakota High School Activities Association (NDHSAA) Preparticipation Physical Evaluation includes several sections: a health history form completed by the athlete and parent covering past medical conditions, surgeries, medications, allergies, and specific questions about heart health, bone and joint issues, and general medical concerns. A supplemental form is available for athletes with disabilities. A licensed medical professional completes the physical examination, assessing vital signs, heart and lung function, musculoskeletal health, and neurological status. The final medical eligibility form is signed by the provider and submitted to the school office. Physicals are valid for one school year if completed on or after April 15.
Mandan Public Schools use Arbiter Registration for activities registration in 2025-2026 to streamline the process. Families create an account to enter information once for multiple programs. Required information includes a current physical form, health insurance details, and payment method. Registration involves account creation, email activation, and submission through Arbiter. Payments are processed via MySchoolBucks; free or reduced meal applicants must complete a separate form on the district website.
The mission of Mandan Public Schools is to provide rigorous learning experiences while supporting students' social and emotional development. The Mandan School Board consists of nine members who act as the district’s policy-making body during formally called meetings. Their duties include setting policies, approving budgets, establishing goals, managing property, and serving as a link between the district and the public. Board members also participate in committees focused on facilities, finance, policy, personnel, and student achievement. Dr. Mike Bitz serves as superintendent responsible for managing educational programs and operations.
