The Williams County Vector Control District (WCVCD) will carry out aerial and ground mosquito control treatments between July 31 and August 1, 2025. The aerial spraying is scheduled for Williston, Trenton, and Grenora using the product Imperium, which contains Deltamethrin as its active ingredient.

Ground ultra-low volume (ULV) adulticide applications are also planned in response to a recent isolated detection of West Nile Virus in a small development in the southwestern part of the county. These ground sprays will focus on areas south of Trenton near Buford and in the south river area just beyond Williston’s spray zone. DeltaGard, which also uses Deltamethrin as its active ingredient, will be used for these treatments.

Residents are advised to keep at least 300 feet away from Vector Control trucks during fogging operations. Both Imperium and DeltaGard have been approved by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for residential mosquito control.

All treatments are set to begin after sunset. If weather or other conditions prevent spraying, missions will be postponed to a later date.

According to WCVCD, there has been no public notice of West Nile Virus exposure in Williams County at this time. However, officials remind residents that "there is a risk of contracting West Nile Virus anytime mosquitoes are active." The public is encouraged to take extra precautions against mosquito bites during this period.
