A two-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of US Highway 2 and North Dakota State Highway 41 on July 25, 2025, at around midnight. The collision involved a Hyundai Santa Fe and a Chevrolet Equinox.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, DeJa Silva, 20, from Minot, was driving the Hyundai northbound on ND Highway 41 when she failed to stop at a stop sign. This resulted in her vehicle entering the intersection and being struck by an eastbound Chevrolet Equinox driven by Jayden Decoteau, 19, from Belcourt.
The crash was described as a T-bone collision. Silva sustained serious injuries and was not wearing a seatbelt. Her passenger, Andrew Smith, also from Minot and aged 20, suffered serious injuries despite wearing a seatbelt. Both were taken to Trinity Health in Minot for treatment.
Jayden Decoteau received minor injuries and was treated at the scene. His passenger, a 17-year-old male from Belcourt whose name has not been released due to his age, also sustained serious injuries but was wearing a seatbelt.
Silva has been charged with criminal vehicular injury, classified as a C felony. The investigation into the crash is ongoing with involvement from several agencies including the North Dakota Highway Patrol and McHenry County Sheriff’s office.
