Fatal rollover crash under investigation by North Dakota Highway Patrol

A fatal crash occurred on July 26, 2025, involving a vehicle rollover near Benson County. The incident took place on 65th Avenue NE, south of US Highway 2. Authorities were alerted to the scene at approximately 8:16 a.m. CST, though the exact time and date of the crash remain uncertain.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported that a 1999 Toyota Camry was found submerged in Stink Lake. Initial investigations revealed tire marks on gravel leading to the ditch where the vehicle had rolled over large rocks before coming to rest upside down in the lake.

The driver, a 67-year-old woman from Jamestown, was pronounced dead at the scene. It was noted that she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Several agencies responded to the incident, including the North Dakota Highway Patrol, US Border Patrol, ND Game & Fish Department, Lake Region Search & Rescue, Leeds Ambulance Service, and Leeds Fire Department. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
