Major Aaron Hummel, Chief of Staff | North Dakota Highway Patrol
A fatal crash occurred on July 10, 2025, near the junction of 12th Avenue NE and 8th Street NE in Grand Forks County. The incident took place at approximately 11:39 p.m. under clear and dark conditions with good road conditions.
The vehicle involved was a 2017 Ford Edge driven by Donald Strom, a 47-year-old resident of Grand Forks, North Dakota. According to reports, the vehicle was traveling eastbound on 12th Avenue NE when it veered off the roadway at the entrance to the Grand Forks Country Club and collided with a fixed object. Strom sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is currently under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Agencies that responded to the incident include the Grand Forks Sheriff’s Office, Grand Forks Police Department, Altru Ambulance Service, and Thompson Fire Department.
