Bismarck's inaugural Red, White & Boom! event on July 4th attracted approximately 8,000 attendees to the MDU Resources Community Bowl. The celebration marked a new chapter for the city's Independence Day festivities, previously held at the Capitol Grounds.
City of Bismarck Administrator Jason Tomanek expressed gratitude towards community partners and sponsors. "On behalf of the City of Bismarck, I would like to thank all the community partners and sponsors who helped make this event memorable. And an even bigger thank you to the thousands of people that came out to celebrate the 4th of July in the Capital City," he said. Tomanek praised Jim Keller with J&J Fireworks for what many considered one of Bismarck's best fireworks displays in years.
The event featured interactive inflatables, live music performances by Ben Suchy and his father Chuck Suchy, as well as a concert by the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra. The evening concluded with a grand fireworks show over the Missouri River.
Community involvement was crucial for the event's success, with sponsorship from various local businesses and organizations including Bismarck State College, MDU Resources Group Inc., Basin Electric Power Cooperative, and others.
Funatix Events General Manager Will Satler highlighted community support for this year's celebration. “We were so amazed by the incredible support from the community for this storied event, and are already working hard to collect as much feedback as possible to make this event even better for next year,” Satler stated.
Feedback is being collected through a post-event survey available until July 21 at bit.ly/bis4july.
Red, White & Boom! is now poised to become a new tradition in its current location at MDU Resources Community Bowl after construction necessitated its move from Capitol Grounds. The annual celebration continues to embody Bismarck’s patriotic spirit while offering memorable experiences for both residents and visitors.
