The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) has opened the application process for the Flexible Transportation Fund (Flex Fund) program. This initiative, approved by the 69th Legislative Assembly, is entering its second round and aims to invest in the state's infrastructure.

The Flex Fund will allocate approximately $116 million in grants to local public agencies. These grants are intended for projects that aim to reduce long-term maintenance and operational costs while improving connectivity, efficiency, and safety within North Dakota's transportation network.

NDDOT Director Ron Henke noted the strong interest from local partners during the initial rollout of the Flex Fund. "We look forward to continuing to work with our local partners to enhance the transportation system statewide with this next round," he stated.

This round of funding includes grants and formula distribution specifically targeting non-oil townships, non-oil counties and cities, as well as bridges. These funds are designed to supplement traditional funding sources and expedite project delivery.

A webinar scheduled for July 22 at 10 a.m. Central Time will provide information on changes to the program, details about the application process, and offer a session for questions. The deadline for submitting applications is September 19, 2025.
