Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library has been recognized for its public relations efforts at the American Library Association’s Core PR Xchange Awards Ceremony held in Philadelphia, PA. The library received the award on June 28, 2025, marking the second consecutive year it has been honored.
The award was given for BVMPL's "Phantom Finds" commercial, which promotes ghost hunting kits available at the library. This commercial was selected as the best material promoting collections, services, and resources among libraries within a similar budget category. From a total of 297 submissions, only 25 were recognized for their electronic content.
The library expressed gratitude to staff members Matt Hovland, Troy Hamre, Allison Keller, Mariah Ralston, and Kevin Tengesdal for their contributions to creating the commercial.
The PR Xchange Awards Competition annually acknowledges outstanding public relations materials produced by libraries nationwide. Entries are judged based on content, originality, and design by experts in public relations and related fields.
BVMPL offers four ghost hunting kits that include paranormal equipment and books about ghost hunting and paranormal activity specific to North Dakota. These kits can be checked out by adult patrons aged 18 or older with a limit of one kit per library card.
