On June 27, a collision occurred involving a vehicle and a train in Stutsman County. The incident took place at approximately 11:54 PM on the 3600 block of 74th Ave SE, about two miles west of Eldridge. The road conditions were wet due to rain.

The crash involved a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by John Wahl, 27, from Jamestown, ND. According to authorities, Wahl was traveling southbound when he failed to yield and attempted to cross the railroad tracks. A Burlington Northern Sante Fe (BNSF) train was heading westbound on the rail line and struck the rear of Wahl's vehicle, causing it to spin off the tracks.

Wahl was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. He received medical treatment at the scene and was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. The incident is still under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Agencies involved in responding to the crash included the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department, Jamestown Ambulance, and Jamestown Fire Department.
